Have you heard the old saying “Everything has its place, and there is a place for everything?”
That was the entire concept behind this large kitchen. The initial consult with Gerard and Barbara went for three whole hours! We went over every detail with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything was exactly in line with the client’s vision.
We even measured the family’s regular Corn Flakes box to make sure it had the perfect home in the kitchen.
Check out the sliding pantry doors in the two photos below. This style of door is very popular with Woodstock Cabinet Makers clients as the doors simply disappear in the cavity in the wall, resulting in a very clean look. No need to look for the light switch, we have a sensor that turns the light on when you slide open the door.
This house had a very high ceiling. To maximise this extra vertical space, we positioned flip-up doors above the cooking station. These provide a huge amount of extra storage space and a great place to put those items that you rarely use. We utilised every available square centimetre of storage in this kitchen, even under the island bench. If you look hard enough in the photos you’ll see the cupboards behind the bar chairs.
Saving the best part for last, the kitchen was finished with a beautiful Carrara Marble benchtop with waterfall ends. It’s only fair to say that the Carrara Marble is not just any marble, but it is ‘THE” marble of choice if you’re looking for the ultimate in style and sophistication. The most famous sculptors have worked with this material, and, after all, the lighter type is not for nothing called Statuario. It is quarried in the city of Carrara located in the province of Massa and Carrara in the Lunigiana, the northernmost tip of modern-day Tuscany, Italy. So it’s easy to see how this can make a huge statement, a piece of art that will leave a lasting impression on your visitors. It’s not just aesthetics that make this superior, it’s also an extremely durable material – you can even place hot items on the bench without risk of damage. We simply love it.
